Location
In the first intercostal space on the lateral chest, cranio-ventral to the shoulder joint; palpate for the soft depression above the border of the sternum.
Landmark: 1st-2nd intercostal space, over the cranial pectoral muscle.
Actions and Indications
Disperses lung qi and relieves chest oppression.
Needling
Oblique toward the chest wall, 0.3-0.5 cm, 0.20 x 25 mm needle.
Cautions
Never perpendicular or deep — risk of pneumothorax.
