Location
1.5 cun lateral to the dorsal midline between the second and third lumbar vertebrae.
Landmark: L2-L3 level over the epaxial muscles above the kidney.
Actions and Indications
Tonifies the kidney and strengthens the bones and lower back — the principal point of the geriatric patient.
Needling
Perpendicular-oblique toward the midline, 1-2.5 cm by size.
Cautions
Do not needle straight down deeply into the abdomen.
