How It Is Used
Acupuncture is one of the better-evidenced adjuncts in veterinary practice, particularly electroacupuncture bracketing the lesion. Typically one to two sessions a week for four to eight treatments, with a neurological exam before and after each. A patient that has lost deep pain needs surgery considered alongside; acupuncture does not replace surgery where it is indicated.
